A beautiful bouquet can stay fresh much longer if you give it just a few minutes of care each day. A clean vase, fresh water, and regularly trimmed stems will help preserve the flowers’ freshness, colour, and appearance.
General Bouquet Care
After receiving your bouquet:
1. Remove the wrapping unless it is part of the arrangement;
2. Wash the vase thoroughly;
3. Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline;
4. Trim approximately 1–2 cm from the stems using sharp pruning shears;
5. Place the flowers in fresh water;
6. Add cut flower food according to the instructions on the packet;
7. Replace the water regularly and trim the stems again;
8. Keep the bouquet in a cool place, away from radiators, draughts, direct sunlight, and ripening fruit.

Roses
Roses need plenty of fresh water and regular care.
Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
Trim the stems diagonally using sharp pruning shears.
Fill the vase approximately three-quarters full.
Check the water level and cleanliness every day.
Trim the ends of the stems regularly.
Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Remove wilted leaves and flowers.
If the bouquet has been brought in from freezing temperatures, leave it in its wrapping for around 15 minutes. This will allow the flowers to adjust gradually to the indoor temperature.

Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas absorb water very quickly, so providing them with a sufficient amount is especially important.
Trim the stems diagonally.
Place the flowers in a clean vase filled with plenty of cool water.
Replace the water every day.
Check the water level regularly.
Gently mist the flower heads with clean water.
If a hydrangea begins to wilt slightly, trim its stem again and place it in fresh, cool water as soon as possible.

Peonies
Peonies do best in a large, stable vase where the flowers are not packed too tightly.
Choose a deep, thoroughly cleaned vase.
Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
Give the flowers enough space.
Replace the water and trim the stems regularly.
Remove wilted flowers so they do not affect the freshness of the rest of the bouquet.

Tulips
Tulips prefer cool conditions and a relatively small amount of fresh water.
Pour approximately 6-7 cm of cool water into the vase.
Cut the stems straight across using a sharp tool.
Remove any leaves that would touch the water.
Replace the water and clean the vase every day.
Top up the water regularly, as tulips continue to grow after being cut.
Keep them away from radiators, direct sunlight, and fruit.
Tulip stems may begin to curve over time. This is natural because the flowers continue to grow and turn towards the light.

Anemones
Anemones need clean water and a cool location.
Trim the stems approximately every two days.
Replace the water regularly.
Keep the vase clean.
You may add cut flower food.
Do not place the bouquet in direct sunlight or close to heat sources.
Protect the flowers from frost.

Ranunculus
Ranunculus flowers have delicate stems and are sensitive to impurities in the water.
Remove the lower leaves after unwrapping the bouquet.
Gently trim the stems with a sharp tool.
Place the flowers in clean water.
Check the water level regularly.
Replace the water every day or every other day.
Do not worry if the flower heads begin to lean slightly. Ranunculus stems are thin and may bend under the weight of the opening buds.
For arrangements made with floral foam, check its moisture level regularly. Add water slowly and take care not to overwater the arrangement.

Cut Orchids
Individual orchid flowers may be supplied in small water tubes. These tubes are primarily intended to protect the flowers during transport.
Check the water level in the tubes regularly.
If the orchids are part of a bouquet intended for a vase, follow your florist’s care instructions.
Protect the flowers from draughts, strong sunlight, and heat sources.
Avoid touching the delicate petals unnecessarily.

Hyacinths
Hyacinths prefer cool, bright locations but should not be placed in direct sunlight.
Replace the water regularly and clean the vase.
Gently trim the stems when needed.
Keep the flowers away from radiators.
You can move the bouquet to a cooler room overnight.
Do not expose the hyacinths to frost.
With proper care, hyacinths can remain fresh for up to two weeks.

Freesias are relatively long-lasting and do not require complicated care.

Closed buds are no cause for concern. They usually indicate that the freesias are fresh and will gradually open in the vase.

Baby’s breath is exceptionally long-lasting. It can remain in a vase for an extended period and later be used as a dried flower.

If you want to dry the flowers immediately, do not place them in water. Keep them in a dry, well-ventilated location instead.
